Mission 22: Tamed

Mission:
Tamed
Team:
Veterans Preston Stormer, Will Furno, Jimi Stringer and Dunkan Bulk with rookie Julius Nex
Objective:
Take out the Witch Doctor's primary mine on the jungle planet Quatros.
Stringer's Log:

After receiving the information about Quatros's situation from Rocka. We were geared up with special animal armour and I was given the power of the black bear. The new armour fitting was specifically made for this mission and no others. From the drop ship I couldn't see much bellow but one thing was that something felt wrong about the planet, now I can't connect with nature like Breez can but I know when theirs something extremely wrong in the air and this was one of those times. In fact, I haven't felt like this since the mission to capture Von Nebula, and that's still giving me bad dreams. We were coming in for a lading when Stormer began giving out instructions.
"Okay, listen up." He said. "This mission is going to be very challenging as we have a lot of tasks ahead of us so your all going to have to keep up, Furno."
Stormer then let Furno take over and explain the plan to us: "Thanks sir." He said. "To take Quatros back we will spilt up into two teams. Me and Stormer will search for Rocka, ever since he sent us the distress message we haven't heard from him. In the meantime, you three will be hitting the quaza mines and hitting them hard. Begin with the primary one at the following co-ordinates..."

We followed the coordinates given to us and before we split up Stormer had placed me in charge of taking down the mines. I had take on this task before so I was no stranger to the responsibilities but I still felt uneasy as there seemed to be more weight on my shoulders.
I saw the mine dead ahead and signalled for Bulk an Nex to circle the mine while I prepared to go in head on. I could only see about half a dozen Raw-Jaw working on the mine and walking in and out of the cave with unrefined quaza. I saw Bulk and Nex in position and shouted: "CHARGE!!!"
All three of us ran in from each side, surprising the Raw-Jaw. One of them threw the quaza they were carrying at me and I was just saved by Nex when he jumped in and pushed me our the way. Shards of quaza fell to the ground and broke into even more smaller fragments.
I got up and grabbed the Raw-Jaw by the neck and threw it into a tree. It growled at me but was in too much pain to attempt a second attack. Bulk had also already took one down and it all seemed to be going well until I saw a pair of Scorpio over the cave and no sooner had I saw them they unleashed waves of fire-power on us and we were helpless to fight back with no long range guns in our inventory. I done the only thing I could think of and charged at them, avoiding there constant fire.
Nex and Bulk were left to handle the Raw-Jaw who had been ferociously attacking since the Scorpio gave them a fighting advantage.
Once I got close enough I jumped on the back of one and the other targeted me as the one bellow desperately tried to shake me off. I took my timing perfectly and jumped away as one Scorpio shot the other I then grabbed the others tail and turned its weapon into my own shooting at the Raw-Jaw bellow and I even managed to collapse the mine tunnel before the beast threw me off. It then took aim at me, ready for revenge but I was saved by Bulk as he jumped in and shattered one of the quaza spikes implanted into the creature and then the beast screamed in agony. I jumped in and ripped the other spike out and then it was as if the Witch Doctor's influence was destroyed, as if it had become tamed. It ran off as if it had woken up from a bad dream and continued its natural life.
"Well that was... odd." Bulk said.
"Looks like we've just found a piece of valuable information." I said. "Best to transmit it to Stormer."
Nex then came running up and said: "The Raw-Jaw have retreated and the mines been destroyed. What do we do now."
"We'll head back the the ship and recharge," I said "This battle has only just begun..."

2011 Hero Review: Rocka 3.0

Hi,
On my birthday, it was a nice surprise when I unwrapped Rocka 3.0 because I wasn't expecting him to be released until August. I'm not entirely sure he came from 'cause every site I look on say to pre-order for August but I'm glad I got him and I am now happy to bring you a Savage Planet review...

The build is, as always, our starting point and their hasn't been change in the building system so their isn't much difference with the 2.0 line. However, I'm glad they kept it the same as it would get annoying if the hero's kept changing with each new release. The build gets the same old 8/10

The next part of the review is the new pieces an their are a fair amount including recolours. Since this is our first gold hero we have some new armour pieces in gold. We have a pair of gold feet along with some large (5 Stud Long) hero armour pieces in gold. We also have a gold hero chest piece with a cool white hero core inside it. It also includes two lower arm/ leg skeletal pieces in grey which is cool. Another recolour is the white head which is also a great piece to have in that colour. He includes a black hand with the four fingers on it and an all new piece which is the base of his weapon and could also be used as a paw. The two centre spikes coming out of his weapon are also new pieces but their plastic seems cheap and flexible. on the outer part of the weapon are some new talon like pieces too. He also comes with the new trans-green hero badge which has a lions head printed on it along with his name: Rocka 3.0. Of course, the final piece is his head resembles a lion is some way but you have to be looking at it from the right angles. With all that and half those pieces in a gold colour, how can I resist a 10/10

Design is the third part of the review and one thing I have to say about it is the head is to big because it is made for Rocka XL and not this smaller version. Other than that he is not too bad. They still have not fixed the hollow back but I've learned to except that over time and who else can resist the gold which was an excellent choice of colour and LEGO did not cheap out as they have given us a solid and shiny gold colour unlike the old Bionicle Glatorian Mata Nui. With that said I give the design a 7/10

The playability has not changed much makes the basic articulation suffer so its a low mark of 5/10

Overall, Rocka 3.0 is great and although I may have been a bit critical about the head I still recommend it and as you can probably tell, I love the gold and if you make MoC's then I would recommend this as gold is going to be great on your creations. Overall, he gets a 9/10

Thanks for reading my first Savage Planet review and I hope to have more on the way. Until then, please comment and follow,

2010 Villain Review: Thunder

Hi,
Yesterday was my birthday and Thunder was one of the presents I received. Today, I'm reviewing him and he is an awesome set and if you see him, don't hesitate to pick him up if you can. The following review will explain why...

First off, the build which was enjoyable and fits with the old style of building really well. Short but sweet, just like Meltdown and gets the same rating of 9/10

Again, new pieces are going to be done by talking about the pieces for what they were back then. The head is the main one and I'm going to start off with that. I admit that its smaller than I imagined but still cool and I like the square style its got. Another cool piece is the foot which, although is not a new mould, is now in an awesome silver colour, great for MoC's. You also get three weapon pieces which come together to make the claw and their really cool an bulky too. A lot of the other pieces are either seen in older sets or other in 2010. The new pieces get a 9/10

The design is one of my favourites and looks really cool The idea of the claw works well with his character and all the armour makes him look very bulked up. The legs may lac pieces but still feel bulky with the size of the pieces. I really like it and give a rating of 10/10

The playability is discuses in many other reviews of the 2010 villains so all I'm going to say here is 6/10

The overall rating for this set will be a high one due to the classic build and the look of the set which is arguably the most important part. Overall, it's a rating of 9/10

That was my review of the awesome 2010 set Thunder and all that's left to from 2010 is Mark Surge but I'm not sure when that'll be. But I do the know the next review will be the all new Rocka 3.0 which I also got for my birthday. Please comment and follow,

New Hero Factory Savage Planet Video!!!

Hi,
On LEGO.com there is a new HeroFactory Savage Planet video. Similar to the teaser that we got for Ordeal of Fire but I think that the episode we get is going to be a much cooler. Click here to see it. I may put it on the MixPod soon as well. Next will hopefully be a review of Thunder but I can't be 100% sure of that. Till then, please comment and follow,

2010 Villain Review: Meltdown

Hi,
As I said, I now am collecting some of the old sets that I missed from 2010. The first is Meltdown who is my brothers, so it will include his opinion, but I hope to get Thunder for myself soon and I will then review him. But enough of the future, lets get back to the present and get on with the review.

The build was very welcome after many of the new system builds. It almost felt new but it was still the good old build I loved. Now real complaints except it was fairly short so because of that its a 9/10

The new pieces is going to be a bit different as this is a older set the pieces aren't really new any more so I will talk about them for what they were back then. A really nice piece is the head which is just one colour but holds a lot of character and seems a bit scaly in but still robotic as well. There is also green tank pieces which are also used on Nitroblast from 2011 only he has a red instead of green. His body is the basic one which is used on almost all the sets released in 2010. The most awesome one is the tentacle piece in a lime green, it really adds to his character and just seems to fit with the whole toxic waste idea. The new pieces get an amazing rating of 10/10

The design is great. Unfortunately, stickers are involved and they are small ones and theirs twelve of them!!! This is the sets big let down as a lot of people don't really like stickers. I don't mind them after doing a lot of them in other LEGO themes and some may actually see the stickers as a plus side because if they are looking at the sets for the parts they may want to leave the stickers out so its your call really, if you don't like stickers you might want to skip on this set or get someone to help you with them if your bad at putting them on, that's what my brother does. There's not much else to go over design wise as a lot of its covered in the pieces section and I've written a lot on new pieces already. Lets just rate it with a 8/10

The playability is average for the sets of its year and gets a rating of 6/10

Overall, if you see this in a shop and you've got some money lying around, I would suggest buying it as you may not have the chance to for much longer as it will be discontinued sooner or later. A good looking set that I would recommend to any MoCer or HeroFactory fan, just be aware of the stickers. Overall rating is a 9/10

That was my review of Meltdown and I hope you enjoyed it. Below is my brothers opinion of the set which is there to give an extra point of view. Please comment and follow,

Meltdown Opinion
Hi,
Above is my review of Meltdown and just to add an extra opinion to it I am letting my brother tell you what he thinks as this is his set. I gave it a 9/10 but lets see what he gives it:

One thing that I like about Meltdown is his green ball which different to the others as it has more of a toxic waste feel. I also like the tank pieces which look cool and I like the trans-green used on them. The thing I don't like is his upper arms as they lack a bit of armour. I give him a high rating of 9/10

That was my brothers opinion of Meltdown and I hope you enjoyed it. He actually pointed out some stuff that I didn't fit into mine. Next review will hopefully be of Thunder but until then, please comment and follow,

Review Update

Hi,
I have some bad news about reviews as the 3.0 sets will have to be reviewed in August rather than this month, July. All websites I've looked on say that they're available to pre-order for August and I can't trust LEGO Shop to let them out any earlier. On the bright side I should be getting some older sets to review soon so look forward to them but until then, please comment and follow,

Mission 21: Into the Jungle

Mission:
Into the Jungle
Team:
Rookie Daniel Rocka with Recon Team agent Merrick Fortis
Objective:
Rescue Aldous Witch from the jungle planet Quatros.
Rocka's Log:

I thought it was going to be a simple mission find Aldous and maybe fight some animals that came in to close but this mission turned into one that held the fate of the whole planet on the line. Even Hero management though it was simple, why else send a lone rookie in. I was on the drop ship with Merrick Fortis. He was transporting me to Quatros and he was then going to do some outer galaxy patrolling.
"All right rookie." He said. "This is it, are you ready."
The doors opened up and I looked into the jungle bellow. "Yes sir."
"Once you get back to the drop off point with Aldous Witch contact the Factory and they'll send a ship for you."
"Yes sir." I said.
"Well then... good luck." He said and I jumped out the craft and landed on a thick branch. I looked back and saw it take off. From here on out I was on my own.

I decided it was best to travel through the trees and look down for any signs of Aldous Witch. I was jumping through when I saw I fairly big jump was needed to get to the next trunk. I jumped seeing no alternative but I missed. I dung my claw into it but it was no use I slipped and fell to the hard ground.
Grrrr,
I heard a noise coming from somewhere nearby. Kept my guard up, assuming it was one of the native animals. Suddenly a Fangz jumped out at me but this wasn't your average everyday Fangz. Its back was covered in spikes and its eyes glowed a devilish red. I know Fangz can be aggressive but they never attack anything larger than them unless they are provoked.
Grrrr,
Its eyes narrowed in on me and I slowly backed away, keeping my guard up encase it decided to attack. I admit that I was frightened I had a small amount of Hero training and had never faced down anything but practice drones. This was a whole new level of fighting and I was in no way ready for it. At this point I looked up to my inspiration, Furno, and thought 'What would he do in a situation like this?' Unfortunately, fear was blocking my thoughts and I did the most stupid thing possible.
I landed a blow on the Fangz and it lost its footing... but victory didn't come that easily and it attacked me straight on. I put up my shield to block the blow but it was useless. after seconds the fight was over and the Fangz dragged my half concious body away.

The Fangz dragged me to a place that seemed like a temple of some sort. Skulls were used as decoration and a large being walked out. He was carrying a staff and seemed to have some form of projectile launcher in his hand. Similar to a meteor blaster that a lot of villains use.
"Thank you, my loyal servant." He said calmly but his voice gave off a hint of evil in it. He then raised his staff and the two spikes on it, similar to the ones that covered the back of the Fangz, glowed red and he then said: "That will be all." The Fangz responded by running off. This was strange. How could this figure control a wild animal. He then began to speak to me: "Hello Rocka, its good to see you again."
"How do you know my name?" I said in shock.
"We've met before." He said his voice still serene. "I was the one who began your training after all."
"No!" I said. "You can't be, your not Aldous Witch."
"Your right there, I'm not Aldous Witch, at least, not any more." He ranted. "Now I am the Witch Doctor."
He broke into a maniacal laugh and my thoughts went mad. How could this figure be Aldous Witch, what did he do to the animals on this planet and what does he want with me. My last question was about to be answered.
"Now there's the question of what to do with you." Witch Doctor said. "I could kill you right here and now. Maybe force you to work in the mines. However, I'm going to be kind and leave the choice up to you."
"I choose neither." said an them used all my agility to make a jump for the nearest tree. I dug my claw into it and this time I didn't slip.
"Thats to bad." Which Doctor said as he shot at me but I managed to jumped to the branch above him. I used my claw to slice thought the thick branch and the fell on top of my adversary, temporarily trapping him.
I wasn't in the mood to wait till he got free. I made a run for it and once I put enough distance in between me and the Which Doctor. I then sat down and sent out a distress call to the Hero Factory, I needed back up immediately as this mission was to much for one lone rookie.
